Design, structure and navigation:

New design The new website is easier to navigate, more intuitive with a modern design.
Quick navigation within pages In tables of contents pages and within HTML articles and chapters, you can quickly skip to the section you want using the drop-down “jump to” box.
New design for product home pages Find out more information, news, events and content highlights from journals and other online products.
New subject pages Find out more about other products in a subject area, keep up to date with product alerts, and read publication news in your field.
New architecture In the future we plan to add more ways to search and display content and the new architecture enables us to do this more quickly.
Images in tables of contents Some journals feature images from the articles in the table of contents lists to give you more information about the article before you click through to read.

Free access and access information:

Free abstracts and chapter summaries All journal abstracts and chapter summaries in books and reference works are free to all users of Wiley Online Library.
Free sample issues Each journal has a free sample issue that you can find from the left menu of any journal page.
Free supporting information Some articles include extra supporting information and this is available free to all users of the website. You can find supporting information in an extra tab from the abstract or article page.
Access icons Shows users in libraries what is free, what you or your institution has subscribed to and you can access.
Access information Clearly see why you might not be able to access an article, book, chapter or whole product and find out your options.

Searching:

Full text search across all products Search across the full text of journals, books, reference works and databases, and see all the results in one list with the ability to filter the list.
Contextual search Search within the issue you are viewing, or expand to search within the whole journal or book, or expand further to search all products in the website.
Filter search by product type Search results include all product types, but you can choose to filter the results if you just want to see books for example.
Advanced search Simple advanced search option from all screens allows you to add more parameters.
Saved search If you are registered on Wiley Online Library you can save your searches to run again. You can also set up search alerts to receive an email when new articles or books are published online that match your search criteria.

Product features:

Improved email table of contents alerts Email alerts are available for all journals and now include a journal banner and cover. You can receive alerts for Early View or Online Accepted articles as soon as an article is published, ahead of the issue publication.
RSS alerts RSS alerts are available to keep you up to date on the latest publications from your selected journals.
Virtual Issues See what the journal editor has selected as the best articles in the journal on a specific theme. Virtual Issues are available for selected journals, look for the link in the left menu.
Most cited articles See which articles in a journal were cited most in the last year (this facility is not currently available for all journals)
Most read articles View the most read articles in a journal (this facility is not currently available for all journals)
Audio and video content Link to audio and video podcasts of interviews, lectures and events from the journal home page.

Article and chapter features:

Many articles available as PDF or HTML (varies by journal) HTML articles include expandable images, direct reference linking and navigation within the article; PDF versions are optimized for printing.
Supporting Information now fully integrated into journal articles Supporting Information for journal articles is free and easier to find as it is integrated into the article. Simply click on the tab on the article or abstract pages, or the drop-down “jump to” menu in the HTML version of the article.
View and link directly to references using the new references tab or from the article References are found in a separate tab as well as at the bottom of the article. In the HTML article or chapter, references can be expanded from within the text while you are reading and you can click on reference links without going to a separate tab or scrolling to the bottom of the page. Reference linking is available for many articles via CrossRef, PubMed and ChemPort with more linking partners being added after launch.
View a list of other articles which cite this one Find citing articles by clicking on the tab or at the bottom of the article and abstract
See other articles by the same authors View other articles or books by the same author or authors; this is available from any page in the article, book, abstract or summary page
Improved ‘more like this’ facility At the article or chapter page you can choose to view more articles or chapters on the same topic or by the same author(s)
Email a link to the article Quickly email an article or chapter link to a friend using a pop-up box from the abstract, summary, article or chapter page
Request permissions using Rightslink Link directly to request permission to use journal article content using the Copyright Clearance Center’s Rightslink automated service
View publication history Quickly see when an article was published online and other dates in the publication process (options vary by journal and article)
View author information Expandable author details so you don’t need to scroll through the information to get to the article but if you need to find out more about the authors you can simply expand the field.
Export to Reference Manager Quickly and easily export article details to your reference manager software. Wiley Online Library currently supports EndNote, Reference Manager, RefWorks and plain text exports; other options will be added shortly after launch.
View moving images and 3D interactive models within articles (only on Protein Science journal) View and manipulate 3D images. Currently available just on Protein Science journal but will be extended to other journals in the future.

Personalisation features:

Register and manage your account in My Profile My Profile area allows you to view and update your details, including email alerts, saved articles, publications and searches. It also shows you any trial access or member access you hold.
Save products, articles and chapters You can save any journal, book, article or chapter to view quickly next time you log in.
